As usual I don’t have much time to put together nice looking informative tutorials. But I hope this will get you started in the right direction of how to make a very reliable, smooth, and light weight traveling slider for your iPhone or any small camera for that matter. If you have any questions please feel free to comment. Oh and I filmed this using my iPhone 4S and my Canon T3i. Before anyone asks you can not cut the sled shorter because if you do when you slide the sled to one side then the bearings will fall out. The sled is what holds the bearings in place.
Slip and Slide The iPhone slider

Hi Aron, what a great idea to use for a slider. Can you tell me why did you remove the ball bearings, i know some of those runners can be a bit jerky but without the bearings doesn’t the runner rub on the track.
Regards keith
Hey Keith thanks for your question. Its hard to explain with out doing the DIY yourself but in order to get the full slide the bearings will fall out because the runner is what hold the bearings in place. So if you slide the runner all the way the bearings fall out. But it does not make any difference in smooth sliding action because their are still a lot of bearings still in the holders. Not all the bearings were taken out (fell out) I’m sorry if I am not explaining my self will. Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks Aron, yes i understand, i’m sure i have a small pair somewhere in the shop so will have a try and if works out ok i’ll buy some 600mm i saw on ebay and may try lining 2 up to get a longer run. Thanks for the inspiring idea, i’m glad i came across your site.
